
The Ministry of Tourism, Authorities of India, has handed over the supervision, monitoring and implementation of the MoUs beneath the ‘Undertake a Heritage‘ scheme involving Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) monuments to the Ministry of Tradition, This was knowledgeable by the Union Minister for Tourism, Tradition and DoNER, G Kishan Reddy in a written reply to a query associated to the standing of the scheme within the Parliament.
This system for beautification, repairs and upkeep of the services with personal assist ( ‘monument mitras’) beneath CSR was launched by the Ministry of Tourism, Authorities of India in 2017, have to date 29 MoUs signed for 27 websites and a couple of technological interventions throughout India. These MoUs had been signed with 15 ‘monument mitras’.
Out of those 27 websites, 23 of them had been ASI websites, as per the written reply by the Tourism Minister, the scheme pertaining to the ASI monumentsnumbering 23, has been transferred to the Ministry of Tradition and ASI for taking them ahead.
There have been hiccups within the implementation of the scheme as per the MoU due to the non-cooperation of the ASI with the personal associate within the scheme. In the meantime, with the majority of the accountability of the scheme transferred to the Ministry of Tradition and the ASI, the Ministry of Tourism is realized to have mulling “broad-basing” the scheme to incorporate non-tangible heritage into it.
A Ministry official mentioned that they are going to be broad-basing the scheme to have extra partnerships (MoUs) for sustaining and selling cultural trails, meals trails, and many others., beneath its ambit.
